WaterWorks™ II Free Chlorine/total Chlorine water quality test strips combine a wide range of detection with our patented Free Chlorine indicator. These test strips are perfect for determining Free, Combined, and Total Chlorine Present (Total Chlorine - Free Chlorine = Combined Chlorine). All of the reagents are impregnated on the test strip pad, and no external chemicals are needed to perform the water quality test.
Contains 30 individually wrapped tests in our new environmentally friendly Eco-Pack!

Why test for Free and Total Chlorine?
Chlorination serves to destroy and deactivate disease producing microorganisms. Chlorination may introduce undesirable taste and odor. To monitor chlorination, and to minimize any adverse effects, proper testing should be performed routinely. Free Chlorine is a very effective disinfectant. Total Chlorine is the combination of both Free (available) Chlorine and reacted Chlorine, or Chloramines. Chloramines are formed when Free Chlorine reacts with organic compounds. Chloramines are less effective at disinfection than Free Chlorine and may cause eye and skin irritation in addition to a strong Chlorine smell. To determine Chloramine, subtract Free Chlorine from Total Chlorine(ex. Total Chlorine 1.0 ppm – Free Chlorine 0.5 ppm = Chloramine 0.5 ppm). At high concentrations of Free Chlorine, the Total Chlorine aperture may appear slightly bluer than on the color chart. Match the color by color intensity as best judgment indicates.
Detects:
Free Chlorine: 0.0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 1.0, 2.5, 5.0 ppm (mg/L)
Total Chlorine: 0.0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 1.0, 2.5, 5.0 ppm (mg/L)
